Borough Life Summer 2006: Bryn and Ashton

At Ashton Bryn, the township forum has priorities around community safety, leisure and recreation and traffic and transport.

The forum has helped organise a competition for schools in the area to win money towards environmental improvements.

Prizes of £2,000, £1,000 and £500 were presented to the best bids from pupils who were helped plan their ideas by the local community.

The forum helped spruce up the exterior of the library with planters and paving as part of the building’s centenary celebrations.

A new footpath network is being planned with the help of the forum working with a local community group.

Ashton in Makerfield library celebrated its centenary with a facelift supported by the township forum.
