This is the futuristic high rise tower that is set to change the Wigan skyline.
Grand Arcade developers Modus have been given planning permission to build the 19 storey tower on the site of the former Millgate car park. It will include 156 apartments as well as office, leisure and retail uses on the lower floors.
Planning committee chairman John O’Neill said: “We feel this will be a landmark building of high quality contemporary design on an important gateway into the town. People increasingly want to live in our town and city centres and this shows the confidence the commercial property market has in Wigan.”
The news comes at a time when developers are also reporting healthy interest in the new apartments under construction at Trencherfield Mill.
