Located in Leigh Town Hall it will serve residents in the whole of the Leigh Township, including Leigh West, Leigh East, Leigh South and Atherleigh.
The former cash offices have been relocated within the building and it has been transformed into an information hub where customers can get quick answers on how to access a wide range of council and other public services.
The Life Centre is a local community version of the Wigan Life Centre currently under construction, will offer a one stop shop approach to public services.
Included in the bright and welcoming Life Centre is a new reception area with Customer service staff, one to one enquiry desks, computer terminals for web enquiry access, a free to use hot phone to resolve enquiries and two meeting rooms for use by local groups and councillors’ surgeries for instance.
A staffed Health information desk managed by NHS Ashton, Leigh and Wigan – the local Primary Care Trust - will also provide a service from the new Centre.
The Life Centre will make it easier for residents to contact the Council and get the services they need.
