Application Process
Applications must contain details about the animals and the performances they are to take part in.
There is an application fee which must be paid at the time an application is made. Full details are available on our fees and charges page.
Receipt of your completed application form and the appropriate fee will be confirmed in writing.
Will Tacit Consent Apply?
No. It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the local authority within a reasonable period, please contact it. You can do this online if you applied through the UK Welcomes service (External Link) or use the contact details below.
Change of Cirumstances
Any change of circumstances in relation to an existing registration must be notified to the relevant local authority. This includes the surrendering of a registration or any other material change to the registration.
There is a fee due in respect of any change that requires a new registration to be issued.
Failed Application / Licence Holder Redress
Please contact your Local Authority in the first instance.
Other Redress
A police officer or officer of the local authority may make a complaint to the local magistrates' court if they feel that animals have been subject to cruelty.
Consumer Complaint
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Citizens Advice Consumer Service (External Link) will give you advice.
