Talk to a Planner

Before you submit your planning application you may find it useful to talk to a planner.

He or she may be able to point out changes that could be made to improve your application and advise on whether your proposals meet the guidelines the council has adopted for some types of development. For example, the council gives detailed advice on house extensions in a free booklet entitled Extending your Home (.pdf, 830Kb).

Whilst the Planning Officer will assist with advice on submitting your planning application, you should be aware that such advice would not be binding on the council.  It is always best to telephone the department to make an appointment.  Ask to speak to someone in the Development Control area in which the development is located.
