Planning application forms

Communities and Local Government is launching a standard planning application form in England.  The implementation for the mandatory use of this form comes into effect on 6 April 2008. The new procedures for validating planning applications will also apply from that date.

The standard planning application form (1APP) will replace all existing types of planning application forms (except minerals) within England.  This represents the biggest change to the planning system in recent years (external link) and a significant step forward in simplifying the planning system.

The standard planning application form is available for you to download, or can be submitted online via the Planning Portal (external link) as well as being available in paper format on request.

Any planning applications submitted on or after 6 April 2008 must be submitted using the standard application form.
