Planning application forms

The standard planning application form (1APP) will replace all existing types of planning application forms (except minerals) within England.  This represents the biggest change to the planning system in recent years (external link) and a significant step forward in simplifying the planning system.

The standard planning application form is available for you to download, or can be submitted online via the Planning Portal (external link) as well as being available in paper format on request.

Any planning applications submitted on or after 6 April 2008 must be submitted using the standard application form.

• Outline planning permission with some matters reserved
• Outline planning permission with all matters reserved
• Approval of reserved matters following outline approval
• Approval of details reserved by condition
• Removal or variation of a condition following grant of planning permission

• Householder and listed building consent

Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas

• Conservation area consent for demolition in a conservation area
• Planning permission and conservation area consent for demolition in a conservation area
• Listed building consent for alterations, extension or demolition of a listed building
• Planning permission and listed building consent for alterations, extension or demolition of a listed building

Advertisements

• Consent to display an advertisement
• Planning permission and consent to display advertisements

Other Types of Application

• Lawful development certificate for a proposed use or development
• Lawful development certificate for an existing use or operation or activity including those in breach of planning condition
• Prior notification of agricultural or forestry development 
• Prior notification of proposed development by telecommunications code system operators
• Prior notification of proposed demolition
• Information required in respect of applications for waste management or treatment
• Application for certificate of alternative development

Trees and Tree Preservation Orders

• Hedgerow removal notice
• Works to trees subject to a Tree Preservation Order and notification of proposed works to trees in conservation areas

Informing unknown landowners of your planning application

Applicants for planning permission must, by law, inform all owners of the land that an application is being submitted.

If you do not know who owns the land or part of it you need to:

• Publish a notice in a local newspaper (.pdf, 51Kb)
• Post a notice on the land (.pdf, 51Kb)
• Complete and sign Certificate C to confirm you have posted these two notices (.pdf, 65Kb)
