Do I need planning permission

The planning regulations are rather complicated so you should always check with the Places Directorate whether permission is needed for any work you are thinking of doing.

The best way to do this is in writing and with a sketch plan showing your proposals. An officer of the Development Management service will advise you on whether you will need planning permission.
