The Landscape Character Assessment provides a unifying framework within which development pressures can be considered and, in particular, their impact on Wigan’s countryside and urban fringe. It identifies key elements of landscape sensitivity and potential landscape change and recommends landscape management prescriptions for consideration in shaping Wigan’s landscape character in the future.
