Wigan Town Centre Street Scene Strategy

The puropose of the strategy is to create a Wigan Town Centre that is clearer, greener, safer and recognisable.

The Wigan Town Centre Street Scene Strategy was adopted by members in autumn 2010. It is intended that this document is used to advise staff within the Council as well as external organisations such as developers, architects, landscape architects or anyone involved in the specification or purchase of street furniture.

For the first time the Council has set out a vision for streets and spaces within the Wigan Town Centre. It identifies three character areas in the town centre and proposes a number of principles and standards, as well as an action plan to achieve such a vision. Detailed guidance is also provided on specific materials, street furniture and street trees.
