Four Strategic Housing Market Assessments have been commissioned by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities to cover the four housing market areas of Greater Manchester. Wigan Borough falls within the west housing market area along with Bolton, Bury and parts of Salford.
Strategic Housing Market Assessments will help to develop a good understanding of how housing markets operate, assessing housing need, demand and supply in the light of projected demand from economic and demographic change. They are a vital element of the evidence base needed to demonstrate the soundness of the Core Strategy as well as other development plan documents and housing strategies.
The assessments are due to be completed by May 2008.
