Reviewing Existing Evidence

Much of the evidence base that will inform spatial planning in Wigan Borough will be existing published information.

This includes plans, programmes, strategies, policies and legislation at the international, national, regional, sub regional (for example Greater Manchester), local and neighbourhood levels.

We have reviewed this evidence under a number of themes and against set criteria.

This evidence review has been distilled down to ‘key evidence’, an ‘overview and baseline position’ and ‘main issues’ in a series of Topic Papers published to support preparation of the Core Strategy of the Local Development Framework, including its sustainability appraisal.

You can also view previous versions of our Evidence Reviews from the Issues and Options stage.
