Key Local Studies

In order to ensure that we have a robust and credible evidence base, there are certain studies that need to be undertaken.

The three main benefits of doing this are that it saves time; takes advantage of expertise that is not available within the Council; and benefits from economies of scale in terms of accessing commercially available information and systems.

The research and studies that have been undertaken include:

On population, households and employment:

On housing:

On employment:

On retail and centres:

On transport:

On flood risk:

On energy:

On green infrastructure:

On key sites and locations:

The evidence that has informed the Wigan Core Strategy can be found in the Core Strategy Examination Library and the Reconvened Core Strategy Examination Library.
