The Core Strategy Submission documents were submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination in September 2011.
Planning Inspector Kevin Ward BA (HONS) MRTPI has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the Wigan Core Strategy is sound.
Latest update on Examination:
Following the additional hearing session held on Wednesday 18th April 2012 the Inspector is currently considering matters further and a decision will be made as to how to proceed with the examination in due course.

The Government has recently published the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and Planning Policy for Traveller Sites. The NPPF replaces all previous national planning policy statements (PPS) and planning policy guidance notes (PPG) along with a range of other guidance and advice.
