Reablement Service

The Reablement Team aims to provide a stepping stone to independence, giving people the support they need to regain lost skills, learn new ones and generally adapt to the challenges that independent living presents.

Many people in the borough, of all ages, leave hospital or residential care each year. But for many of them their illness or injury means that they struggle to perform the day-to-day tasks that many of us take for granted; a situation that the Reablement Team aims to turnaround.

Reablement workers are trained to carry out therapeutic activities, such as improving mobility, building stamina and practising personal care, and have the personal attributes to be able to motivate and support people.

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate they can motivate and support others, have the ability to step back and have the personal attributes to encourage and support others building self confidence and rewarding achievement.

You will spend 6 weeks shadowing an experienced colleague allowing you to learn more about the service and provide an induction to the council and the role.

As this is a developing service you will need to be able to work flexibly and operate across the borough.  Longer term there may be the opportunity for the team to be geographically based.

The hours of work available range from 15 to 25 hours per week and flexibility of work patterns will be essential. The team may not have a regular work pattern, but will be required to meet the requirements of the service as it develops.

The service is expected to grow over the next 12 months and recruitment will continue over this period.

Qualifications
