Wigan Council has a number of day centres throughout the borough that provide day services for older people and adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory disabilities or mental health problems.
Support workers and care assistants work with people to help develop daily living skills. They also help them with personal care, and much more.
The council also supports adults with learning disabilities who live independently within their local community.
There are no essential qualifications required for this particular kind of work, but a relevant NVQ accreditation is desirable.
