Careers in Social Work and Social Care

The council has teams of Social Workers and Social Care Workers throughout the borough, who specialise in providing help to: older people, children and families, people with physical disabilities, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health problems, and their carers.

Social Workers tend to specialise in either adult or children's services.  They help people who use social care services find solutions to their problems, by talking to them, listening and assessing them for packages of care and support that will best help them.

Social Care Work involves providing practical support in everyday life for people with physical, learning and mental health difficulties.  If you enjoy working with people, social care work offers a worthwhile job or volunteering opportunity in a variety of fields.

Details of careers in social care and social work in the North West can be found on the links on the left hand side of this page.
