Childminding involves looking after one for more children under the age of 8 or more than a total of 2 hours a day on domestic premises (normally in the childminders own home) for reward.
Childminders are required to register and undergo regular inspections by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted), to demonstrate the quality and standards of their care. Being self employed, they are responsible for running their own business, and providing a service to the families whose children they care for. Childminding gives you the chance to work in your own home, doing a really worthwhile job. You must be 18 years old to work as a childminder. You’ll be helping children develop with lots of activities and sharing their successes as they grow. Childminding is a professional career and provides plenty of scope for development from working towards nationally recognised qualifications to getting involved with local community projects.
