Our Landlords Accreditation Scheme is run by the North West Landlords' Association (NWLA). To assist in the administration costs, Accredited Landlords must become members of the NWLA. Currently, the membership fee is £85 for the first year and £70 per year thereafter.
Code of Conduct
Accredited Landlords must:
- Ensure that all rented homes meet the current statutory minimum housing standard
- Obtain buildings and public liability insurance for each rented home
- Sign a Tenancy Agreement for each rented home
- Provide a planned maintenance schedule for each rented home
- Inform tenants on how to report repairs and set target response times
Benefits
Accredited Landlords are entitled to:
- Use the "Accredited Landlord" logo on promotional material
- A free listing on Wigan Council's website
- A higher rate of Grant Assistance for rented homes within Renewal Areas
- Receive invitations to Landlords Information Events
- Access the Wigan Bond Scheme
- Discounts on HMO and Landlords licensing fees
- Free advertising of homes available for letting by Wigan & Leigh Housing's Property Shops
