LBS serves 12,500 council properties in the east of Wigan Borough. As well as our close partnership with Leigh Homes, we encourage links with tenants’ forums to make sure we work with, as well as for, all residents.
Working in partnership with Leigh Homes
Our aims are:
- To get things right first time
- To provide a prompt, high quality service
- To ask for…and listen to tenants’ suggestions
LBS employs over a hundred dedicated staff and operatives who have nationally recognised qualifications in trades. They include:
- Joiners
- Builders
- Electricians
- Roofers
We give advance written notice to tenants when work will be carried out at their home. This allows the tenant to make sure someone is at home when our operatives call. Tenants can change their appointment by phoning the contact number provided. We can also discuss any concerns the tenant may have before any work begins.
Our aim is to work closely with tenants and carry out repairs causing limited inconvenience.
There are teams on standby 24 hours a day 365 days a year to assist with tenants’ emergencies. This service responds to problems covering all trades. It is linked to the council’s Central Watch service. In emergencies only, you can contact them on 01942 404040.
Each year LBS also supports education and future careers by taking on a small number of apprentices. Trades include plastering, plumbing, and decorative, wood and trowel operations.
We work on behalf of the council’s housing organisation, Wigan and Leigh Homes. You can report a problem and request a repair directly Wigan and Leigh Housing online.
