Brookfield is a 15-bedded residential unit in Marsh Green, Wigan, which offers support to adults with enduring mental health problems. It also provides short term breaks (respite care). The aim is to help people to live independently.
Referrals to Brookfield can be made by community psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists at any one of six community mental health teams, as well as through staff at wards at Leigh Infirmary. Places are allocated on a priority basis.
Short term referrals can be made by care co-ordinators.
Once a referral is made, we will do an assessment of your needs to decide whether or not you are eligible to receive services. We use Department of Health guidance 'Fair Access to Care Services' to work out your eligibility.
