Disabilities

The council provides a range for support to help people with disabilities:

We can offer some people cash payments to buy these services, or similar services from other organisations. Direct payments offer you control over your care arrangements and support independent living.

To access adult social care services, you need to have an assessment of your care needs. The assessment helps us to decide whether or not you are eligible to receive services. We use Department of Health guidance 'Fair Access to Care Services' to work out your eligibility. Contact the Central Duty Team to arrange for an assessment.

To access children's social care services, contact the Children in Need Duty Team.
