Hunter Lodge

Hunter Lodge is a clubhouse that meets the needs of people who have a physical disability or sensory impairment, and/or people who have had a brain injury.

Hunter Lodge is a place where members and staff work together and contribute equally to the daily running of the clubhouse. The aim is to support and develop each person’s abilities in ways which are meaningful and valuable to that person. There are opportunities throughout the day for members to take part in 'natural occurring' tasks, which enable the clubhouse to run smoothly.

Members can expect support from a trained staff team to develop skills in a range of activities, aimed at helping them to move on to further opportunities, e.g. a college course, voluntary work, referral to the council's Supported Employment Service, a placement on reception to train in admin. duties, or to relearn tasks that are now more difficult due to a disability.

To attend Hunter Lodge, you need to have been referred by a social worker. If you haven’t got a social worker, you should contact the Central Duty Team and ask for a social work assessment.  The assessment helps us to decide whether or not you are eligible to receive services. We use the Department of Health guidance ‘Fair Access to Care Services’ to work out a person's eligibility.
