Westfield Children’s Centre is one of Wigan flagship fully extended schools based at Westfield Community School.
The centre provides families and children with early education integrated with full day care.
This service includes the early identification of and provision for children with special education needs. There are also breakfast and after school and holiday clubs.
The centre also has a varied programme of activities and services on offer for under fives and their families including: Healthy Tots, Messy Mayhem, Jo Jingles, Parentcraft, Dads Group, Baby Gym, Pre School Gymnastics, English and Maths courses, Family Support, parental outreach and signposting.
The centre is committed to ensuring that services are tailored to meet the needs of local families and children.
Lisa Middlehurst the Children's Centre Co-ordinator, who co-ordinates services for the local community and links provision to other locations and community groups within the Westfield area. Sarah Tarmaster, the Extended Schools Development Worker, co-ordinates the development of Extended School Services that meet the full core offer and reflect local need. Donna Barwise and Kerry Stubbs, the Link Workers, are available to make home visits to offer advice and support to families with a child under 5 years in the Westfield area. Claire Scroggie, is the Children's Centre Receptionist / Information Assistants and can signpost members to local services and provides support and information when families visit the centre.
Westfield is keen to recruit volunteers who will be involved in service development.
