Previously known as ‘Sure Start Shakerley / Tyldesley Local Programme’, services have been available to families in the community since 2002 providing a variety of support services for children under 5 years and their families from local venues. The opening of the Tyldesley Children's Centre in October 2005 expanded the opportunities to offer a range of services for families.
The centre boasts a wide range of good quality services and fun activities including healthcare, crèche, play sessions, exercise activities for children and their parents / carers, how to run an allotment courses and a fantastic outdoor play area with play equipment suitable for children under 5 years. The centre also has a community cafe called 'Chill N Fill' where lots of additional information can be accessed in a relaxed environment.
As the Local Programme has now evolved into Tyldesley Children's Centre, we continue to offer a warm and friendly welcome to children and families and provide even more opportunities for all community members. As well as improved links with local schools the centre offers better family support, parental outreach services, access to training and career opportunities. Families with children under 5, living in the Wigan Borough, can access services at Tyldesley.
