Douglas Valley originally opened as a Nursery Centre in 1981 as a joint venture between the Wigan Education Department and Social Services.
There has been considerable development of services over the years resulting in designation as an Early Excellence Centre in 2002. The Early Excellence scheme has drawn to a close and Douglas Valley is delighted to have become a Sure Start Children’s Centre.
The Centre offers a wide range of services including an OFSTED registered maintained nursery school, full day care for 0 – 5 year olds, wrap around care and holiday care for 0 – 11 year olds. Douglas Valley Children’s Centre plays host to a range of services including parenting courses, ante-natal, support groups and Family Learning. The Conference and Development Centre provides a venue for training, conferences and a range of early years activities.
The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am. to 6.00pm, 51 weeks per year and is closed on public holidays and the period between Christmas and New Year.
