Wigan Safeguarding Children Board plan to build on and develop the good practice which already exists in Wigan in respect of single agency and multi agency safeguarding training.
Employers have a responsibility sited in chapter four of Working Together 2006 to ensuring their staff are competent and confident in carrying out their responsibility for safeguarding young people. Whether staff are currently carrying out the job of safeguarding properly is primarily centred on having sufficient resources, influence and adequate training to fulfil their role. It is the Wigan Safegaurding Children Board responsibility to enable staff to fulfil their role by developing policies.
