Officers begin each training programme in the secure environment of the school playground. The children will only venture out onto the highway when they are ready, where they are closely supervised by road safety staff.  There are 3 sessions per course.

  • Children must be aged 10 years and over.
  • Courses are free but must be booked in advance.
  • Attendance at all three sessions is required.
  • All attendees must have a suitable, roadworthy bicycle.
  • Please bring along your own helmet if you have one - we also have high-visibility jackets and helmets for use during the course.
  • A certificate will be issued when the course is completed.

The council's road safety team also provide term-time cycling courses and many kinds of specially-tailored education programmes in the borough's schools and colleges.  Contact us for further details.
