Resident Visitors Permit for Wigan and Leigh

This is a permit that enables a resident's visitor to park in a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ).

Permits will be issued to bona fide residents only. Residents will be required to purchase the visitor permits in advance and hand them to their visitors as and when required. Each permit must be validated by crossing off in pen the day, month and date of the month for which the permit is being used. The permits are only for use in the stated zone and are not valid for off-street car parks.

Entitlement

Each household may purchase up to 10 packs of resident visitor permits in any 12 month period. The applicants permanent address must be in the CPZ. You do not have to drive or own a vehicle to obtain resident visitor permits. Senior citizens and disabled blue badge holders are able to purchase permits at a 50% discount.

Documents

Proof of Residence:  for example a recent utility bill - electricity, water and gas only

Age or Disability:  you must provide proof of residence and vehicle ownership with your application – photocopies are acceptable for applications.

One of the following forms of identification will be acceptable as proof:

  • Current Driving Licence
  • Current Council Tax Bill
  • Pension or Benefit Book
  • Housing Association/Rent Book
  • Birth Certificate
  • Medical Card
  • Any other official document showing your date of birth
  • A valid disabled blue badge

Application

Permits can be applied for by post or in person.

If applying by post, please include your payment (crossed cheque or postal order) and required documentation.

If applying in person please bring the completed application form and required documents.
