Within the Leigh permit scheme the streets will contain shared use bays. This means that the designated permit bays are also limited waiting bays. The limited waiting bays can be used by non-permit holders and are limited to either 1 hour or 2 hours. The plan details the restrictions for each street. The bays will operate Monday to Saturday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
All owners and occupiers of premises within the zone are allowed to apply for permits.
If a vehicle is parked without a permit or the driver breaks any other of the rules, they will become liable for a Penalty Charge Notice.
If you are unsure about whether you are infringing the parking restrictions in the borough, always check for signs and road markings. The parking signs used in the Wigan Borough can be found in the Highway Code (external link) .
