Disabled Parking

Wigan Council has a disabled parking policy offering free parking to valid blue disabled badge holders to park in any Council controlled parking bay On or Off-Street.

There are a total of 126 dedicated disabled parking spaces in Wigan and Leigh Town Centres and these include:

Wigan Town Centre

  • 29 spaces - Galleries multi-storey car park
  • 16 spaces – Water Street multi-storey car park
  • 16 spaces – Mesnes Terrace multi-storey car park
  • 2 spaces – Civic Centre car park, Saturday only
  • 12 spaces – Parsons Walk car park, Saturday only

Wigan On-Street

  • 8 spaces - Pay and Display On-Street

Leigh Town Centre

  • 12 spaces – Bengal Street multi-storey car park
  • 7 spaces – Doctors Nook car park
  • 2 spaces – Lord Street
  • 22 spaces – Spinning Gate

When vehicles are parked in a dedicated disabled parking space a valid blue disabled badge must be displayed at all times.

In addition holders of a valid blue disabled badge are able to park free of charge on any of the 3,271 spaces within any of the Council’s car parks and On-Street Pay and Display bays. A valid blue disabled badge must be displayed at all times. An exception applies to the three Wigan Town Centre multi-storey car parks which are Pay on Exit and requires the valid blue disabled badge to be shown on exiting the car park.
