Disabled Parking

Wigan Council has a disabled parking policy offering free parking to valid blue disabled badge holders to park on street and concessions for badge holders on its surface car parks.

There are a total of 126 dedicated disabled parking spaces in Wigan and Leigh Town Centres and these include:

Wigan Town Centre

  • From 1st March 2013 free disabled badge parking will no longer be available on the surface car parks.
  •  Pay & Display  tariffs apply and on purchase of the relevant tariff  there will be a concession of 2  hours additional free parking.
  • A valid blue badge must be displayed

Wigan On-Street

  • Pay and Display On-Street

Leigh Town Centre

From 1st March 2013 free disabled badge parking will no longer be available on the surface car parks.

Pay & Display tariffs apply and on purchase of the relevant tariff there will be a concession of 2 hours additional free parking.

A valid blue badge must be displayed.

  • 7 spaces – Doctors Nook car park
  • 2 spaces – Lord Street
  • 22 spaces – Spinning Gate
  • 2 spaces Church Street

When vehicles are parked in a dedicated disabled parking space a valid blue disabled badge must be displayed at all times.

In addition holders of a valid blue disabled badge may park in the  on-street Pay and Display bays - Multi-Storey car parks are excluded.
