Bridge records

Part of the responsibility of being the Highway Authority is keeping and updating the highway structure records: some of which date back to the late 1870s.
Bridge records database

The records that the Bridges Section maintain are:

  • Bridge files for each structure as necessary containing all general paperwork regarding that structure
  • A series of general bridge files.
  • Design calculations for structures where these are available.
  • Assessment calculations for the structure where they have been produced.
  • Structure drawings which may be on paper, negative, microfiche or computer CD.
  • A computer database of structure information such as type of structure, location, dimensions, inspection frequency, which is regularly updated.
  • Photographs of the structures
