Access on the Highway

Legislation makes is compulsory for the council and others working on the highway to take into account the needs of vulnerable groups.  All operators must keep to strict safety regulations when digging up the road or pavement.
Tactile paving

The council introduces tactile paving and dropped kerbs at many road junctions. Together with the police, the council is adopting a "get tough" approach to vehicles parked illegally on the pavement, causing damage to the pavement and obstructing access for prams and wheelchairs. We will also take action against people who cause obstructions, such as A-Frame advertising boards outside shops.

If you want to construct a vehicle crossing over a footway or pavement, please contact the Environmental Services Department. There is a standard charge for providing these crossings, which may also require planning permission if located on a main road.

These forms will need to be printed out and completed in black ink. Details of what you need to send back to the council are included on the forms.
