Could you provide a sustainable solution for Wigan’s waste?
Between now and 2015 we’re looking to let a series of contracts to:
- Treat and dispose our residual waste, manage our HWRCs and waste transfer operations
- Compost our kerbside collected co-mingled food and garden waste;
- Separate and market our kerbside recyclables
On Thursday 12th January 2012 we held an open day at the DW Stadium in Wigan for interested parties to discuss our waste procurements. Following this open day, which was well attended, we held a series of 1-1 sessions with interested parties in late January 2012 to further understand what the market could offer the borough.
On 29th February 2012 we published two OJEUs to begin this procurement process:
- Organic waste treatment
- Residual waste treatment and disposal, HWRC management and waste transfer operations
Our OJEU for kerbside recyclables will be published at a later date. We are not intending to procure closed landfill management at this stage.
Further information will be provided on this web page as the procurement process progresses.
