The council's waste management team can offer advice to businesses in the borough about how to dispose of their waste properly.

In Wigan Borough, the trade waste collection service is operated by private businesses and trade waste cannot be taken to the five household waste recycling centres.

The council recognises that the correct and safe disposal of trade waste, which may include hazardous materials, is an important issue for business. The waste management section can offer advice on the matter. Businesses can contact the Waste Education Officer on the number below.

Free advice is available for commercial enterprises wanting to dispose of their waste correctly. Businesses are encouraged to recycle as many materials as possible - this may also reduce your waste disposal costs.

The council has published a waste directory, which offers businesses advice on recycling and waste related matters. If you would like a copy please contact us, or alternatively copies are available at all council buildings. You can also download the waste directory here (.pdf, 625kb). Please save paper and avoid printing unnecessary copies.
