The council provides a weekly black wheelie bin collection service from domestic properties, as well as fortnightly collections of paper, and for two thirds of all homes, a garden waste collection in a green wheelie bin.
Please make sure that your wheelie bin is placed at the edge of your property from 7.00am on your regular collection day. The bin should not be overfilled because the lifting equipment on the vehicles, and the operatives themselves, cannot take bins that are overflowing, or full of heavy items such as rubble.
All residents are sent an annual calendar for their recycling collections. The calendar also provides information about holiday refuse collection services. They are normally one day later than usual after a Bank Holiday Monday, with the Friday collection before Easter being on the Saturday.
Try to slim your bin by recycling as much as possible. There are over a hundred handy roadside centres, as well as five household waste recycling centres in the borough. Find your nearest site on our interactive maps.
