Brown Bins

The council's waste management team have introduced a new service for dry recyclables - glass, cans and plastics - in brown bins.  Each of the 13,000 properties included in the trial has been sent full information about this service through their door, including a calendar of collection dates.  Collections of the brown bins are every two weeks and residents will be able to recycle a wide range of material that at present often goes to expensive landfill sites.

Collections of the brown bins are every two weeks, along with garden waste and paper collections.  The service is a new trial scheme, and the council is hoping to expand the scheme to cover all suitable properties over the next couple of years.  The service works in the same way as other bin collections; residents should bring their bin to the edge of their property on their collection day and return it once it has been emptied.
