Wigan Borough Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan
Wigan Council, on behalf of Wigan Local Strategic Partnership, has produced a Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan. This sets out Wigan borough’s approach to climate change mitigation and adaptation – how we will reduce our emissions and how we will adapt to the inevitable changes.

The documents are comprehensive but are not exhaustive and will be constantly monitored and reviewed to ensure they are up to date. There is still some way to go before Wigan has a fully robust approach to tackling climate change.

Climate Change Strategy
The Climate Change Strategy (.pdf, 1342Kb) analyses the current situation and the challenges Wigan faces. It sets out the carbon emissions which Wigan is responsible for and highlights the commitment we have made to reduce them. It also addresses the adaptations we need to make to respond to the changes that will take place.
Climate Change Action Plan
This Action Plan (.pdf, 83Kb) sets out many of the actions which the Council and its partners will pursue in order to reduce our emissions and adapt to the changing climate.
