They have been responsible for taking action against people who blight our borough by dumping waste illegally. The team often take the lead over other Authorities in applying new legislation to tackle fly tipping and were rated as being ‘very effective’ in a recent DEFRA report. In one case, officers worked with Police using ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras to trace a vehicle wanted in connection with the dumping of tyres in a stream in Ince. The vehicle, a Mitsubishi 4x4, was seized and sent to the crusher.
