Trees and Woodlands

To protect and enhance both council woodlands and those in private ownership.

The council has a Woodlands Strategy aimed at protecting and enhancing the borough's wooded areas. Many improvements have been carried out, including tree planting, footpaths and fencing. Wigan is also a member of the Red Rose Forest partnership which is designed to create an urban forest across much of Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

How do I find out if a Woodland is protected ?
