Comment and general advice is given on policy and strategic issues relating to the management of the countryside. Improvement projects to the local countryside and some of the larger open spaces are implemented using predominantly financial contributions and grants from external agencies.
Improvement projects are largely delivered within areas of public ownership but outside of official Country Parks. There is a particular focus on aesthetic, habitat/nature conservation and access improvements including some based on long distance countryside routes called Greenways.
