Please note no member of the Land Charges Section provides any assistance when inspecting the register.
Wigan Council operates a strict appointment for this service. This requires a minimum of 48 hours prior notice for all bookings, cancellations or additions to the existing appointments.
Provisions for appointments are as follows:-
Local Land Charges Register
1) Booking Procedure
An appointment system involving a strict 48 hour notice period operates with regard to access to the LLC Register. Bookings are made by telephone.
2) Maximum Number of Appointments or Searches per day
Under our current procedure there is a set limit of 5 properties to be searched per appointment. We have a maximum of 6 appointments per day and no one agent may take up more than 4 appointments per week.
Land Charges appointment times are: 9.15am, 10.00am, 10.45am, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm.
3) Fee payable
Nil.
4) Where Available for Inspection
The LLC Register is available for inspection at Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan WN1 1YN; the Personal Searcher attends at reception and inspects the records available.
5) Format of LLC Register
The LLC Register is currently available in paper printout format for inspection only.
6) Direct Access to the Register
The records available for inspection are as referred to in 5) above. Local Authority Staff check and up date the records and make them available to Search Agents to copy down. There is no access to the Register for Personal Search purposes other than by the process described above.
