A small team of three staff receive and complete local searches on a daily basis. The council is committed to maintain the response time of returning all local searches within a maximum of ten working days. Although our average return time is 2/3 working days from day of receipt. In the last financial year the percentage was 100%. Not one search out of over 9,475 received missed the target.
All search applications require a fee.
Standard Fees
Part 1 Enquiries
- The standard fee for a LLC1 is £6
- The standard fee for a CON29 is £105
- Each additional parcel £10
Part 2 Enquiries
- Each printed enquiry £10
- Each additional enquiry £15
It is the council's statutory duty to retain records of local searches for seven years, this being the time limit should any legal action be pursued.
The local land charges register is open for public inspection for a set fee of £11.
Register of Common Lands and Village Greens
Within the Wigan borough there are quite a number of areas of land designated as common land and village greens.
A register showing the extent of these areas is maintained by the Land Charges section. A search application of the register of common land (FORMS CR21) may be made by solicitors. The Lord Chancellor's Office decrees a statutory fee for this service.
Replies relating to these enquiries are entirely separate from those for local searches.
