The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996
It is an offence in Wigan Borough not to clean up if your dog fouls on land in the open including playing fields and open spaces maintained by the council, footpaths, parks and cemeteries. Offences are subject to a fixed penalty fine of £50 and, for non-payment, prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
