The aims of this course are to :
- To update you with the important changes in legislation and guidance that come into force from September 2007
- To ensure you have a sound knowledge of your role on discipline committees and are able to hold a fair hearing
- To inform you of your overall responsibility in terms of discipline within the school
- To offer support and advice on decision making around exclusions
- To update you on current initiatives and strategies that schools should consider before issuing exclusions
By the end of the session you will:
- Have a sound knowledge of the current and forthcoming legislation and guidance in relation to exclusion from school
- Be fully aware of your role within school on discipline
- Be aware of the alternatives available to prevent exclusion
- Feel confident in holding a fair hearing and making informed decisions on individual cases
