School Admissions

We:

• Provide information for parents and schools about local authority maintained nursery schools places in the borough.
• Co-ordinate the allocation of places for children starting in reception class, those transferring at year 2 from infant to junior school and year 6 pupils moving on from primary to secondary school.
• Administer school transfers at community and voluntary- controlled Wigan schools.
• Provide advice and guidance to schools and parents on school admission and appeal procedures.
• Represent community and voluntary-controlled schools at independent admission appeals.
