Special Education Needs
Wigan Local Authority (LA) is committed to providing the best possible educational opportunities for all children and young people including those who have special educational needs. Most children and young people with additional needs will have those needs met from within the resources of their ordinary educational setting. Schools and other settings plan carefully to meet children’s needs and are able to call upon support from a range of outside agencies such as specialist teachers, educational psychologists, and others, to help them identify, assess and address any difficulties. A number of children will have special needs at some time during their school life. These can range from temporary to more complex or long-term.
