“Just a quick note to congratulate you on the superb concert last night. I am amazed and very impressed with the way you coordinated so many children from so many schools….” – Headteacher – St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School
‘Sing Up’ is the Music Manifesto’s National Singing Programme. It’s a programme to make sure that singing is at the heart of every primary school child’s life. Wigan’s vocal strategy supports the believe that singing has power to change lives and help to build stronger communities.
Schools can access a wealth of high quality, FREE singing resources including backing tracks, song sheets, sheet music and teaching notes by signing up to the Sing Up programme at the Sing Up website (see contact details below)
The Wigan Vocal Strategy supports schools in enabling all children to participate, enjoy and develop their singing. The ‘Let’s Sing!’ programme is a central strand of the strategy, involving workshops, rehearsals and large-scale ‘massed choir’ performances. Over 60% of primary schools and 85% of secondary schools have accessed the project with many making Let’s sing a regular programme in their school music provision.
Throughout the year, a number of training sessions are hosted by the service and led by the Vocal Projects Leader, some being regional events in collaboration with Sing Up colleagues.
Bespoke singing support for schools is available from Keith Orrell and his vocal team.
