Further education courses which are available include:
- Entry Level Courses
- NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications

- A (Advanced) Levels
- Advanced Extension Awards (AEAs)
Some courses can be studied at school but most will only be available at colleges, sixth forms or sixth form colleges. Local colleges and sixth forms include: Deanery sixth form (External link) , St John Rigby College (External link), St. Mary’s 6th form (External link), Wigan and Leigh College (External link) and Winstanley College (External link), although students can choose to study at out of area colleges for example, St Helens College, Runshaw College.

Connexions Personal Advisers (PAs) work in schools and colleges to help advise and support young people in making key decisions about their future. PAs also help young people overcome any barriers that may be affecting their choice, for example housing, money matters etc.
