Sensory Impairment Service

This service is made up of two support teams for visually and hearing impaired pupils.  They provide disability specific advice and teaching to pupils in school and at pre-school age. 

The Visual Impairment Support Team

The Visual Impairment Support Team support children who have been identified as having a significant visual loss that could hinder their educational progress, who attend mainstream and special schools. Wherever possible, children will follow the mainstream curriculum.

Advice will be given regarding access to specific subject areas, and help will be given with adaptation of materials where necessary.

The Hearing Impairment Support Team

The Hearing Impairment Support Team support children who have been identified as having a significant hearing loss that could hinder their educational progress, who attend mainstream and special schools. Wherever possible children will follow the mainstream curriculum.

Advice will be given regarding access to specific subject areas, and help will be given with adaptation of materials where necessary.
