Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship (PSHEC) promotes health, well-being and safety. PSHE&C plays a critical role in promoting physical and emotional health and well-being of children and young people. It helps children and young people to understand what it means to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution, and achieve economic well-being.
PSHE&C includes everything schools do to promote pupils' good health and well-being. It is backed by the National Healthy Schools Programme and includes subjects such as anti-bullying, citizenship, drug education, emotional health and well-being, equality and diversity, health eating, physical activity, safety education and sex and relationship education.
Support is avaiable to teachers and its wider school community. To access resources, training and professional development for PSHE Key Stages 1–4 and of Citizenship Key Stages 1 - 4, please access Wigan Schools Online (external link) or contact the PSHE&C Team.
